If you’re going to work and travel in New Zealand then this is the visa you need.

WITH THIS VISA YOU CAN: 

• Work and travel in New Zealand for up to 12 months, or 23 months if you are from the UK or Canada. If you apply for a 23 month visa you must provide a General Medical Certificate.
  
• You can leave and re-enter New Zealand as many times as you like in that period.
• The 12 or 23 months starts on the day you arrive in New Zealand.
  
• If you choose a 12-month visa and decide you want to stay longer, you can apply later for the balance of the 23 month period.
• You can do any kind of short-term work in New Zealand to help pay for your holiday.
  
• You can study for up to 6 months in total.
  
• If you complete at least 3 months of seasonal work you can apply for a 3 month extension of your Working Holiday Visa. 

 ELIGIBILITY:

• You must be a citizen of and hold a valid passport from one of the countries listed below.
  
• You must be 18 to 30 years old (inclusive). However if you're from Argentina, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Slovakia or Uruguay you can be 18 to 35 (inclusive).
  
• You must not have previously entered New Zealand on a WHV.
  
• You must enter New Zealand within 12 months of the date your visa is granted.
• You should have a return flight or sufficient money to pay for a return flight, as well as enough money to cover your living costs. (Approximately NZD $350 per month.)
  
• You can’t be accompanied by dependent children.
  
• You must be outside of New Zealand when you apply for this visa and cannot enter New Zealand until it has been granted.

If you’re going to New Zealand for a short holiday or to visit family or friends and are NOT going to be working then you can get a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA).

WITH THIS YOU CAN:

• Stay in New Zealand for up to 3 months, or 6 months if you are a British citizen.
  
• You must not work in New Zealand on this visa.
  
• You must enter NZ within 12 months of the date your visa is granted.
  
• The 3 or 6 months starts on the day you arrive in New Zealand.

ELIGIBILITY:

• You can be a citizen of and hold a valid passport from any country.
  
• You can be any age.
• You must have at least NZD $1,000 for each month of your stay, or $400 for each month if you've already paid for your accommodation.
• You must have a flight ticket out of New Zealand.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

The easiest way to apply for a NZeTA is to download the NZeTA App on your mobile phone. You'll need to provide a photo of your face, which you can take using your phone then upload to the App. It usually only takes around 10 minutes for it to be approved, but can take up to 72 hours.

A NZeTA costs NZD $9 through the App or $12 if you do it online. You'll also need to pay an International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) of NZD $35 when you apply.
