Itinerary

NEGOMBO

Landing in Colombo, we’ll meet you at the airport and take you to your beach front hotel in Negombo. Meet up with your travel crew and get excited for the adventures to come.

DAMBULLA

This morning we’ll jump into tuk tuks to explore the pretty seaside town of Negombo, stopping off to visit the local fish markets. We’ll then head north to the serene and sacred town of Dambulla, where we’ll check in to our fancy as hell glamping resort. With comfy beds, aircon, WiFi and ensuites, we’ll doubt you’ve ever done camping quite like this…

DAMBULLA

Today we'll take in views of the ancient Sigiriya Rock Fortress as we climb the towering rock adjacent, with 360 degrees views from the top. We’ll then head to a local village to understand how small rural communities live, before hopping on board a cruise where we’ll be treated to a cooking demonstration (and eating, of course) courtesy of the local village ladies.

KANDY

It’s goodbye Dambulla and hello Kandy today as we head south to the cultural centre of Sri Lanka, stopping en route to visit a spice garden. Once in Kandy, we’ll head out to visit the fascinating Temple of the Tooth. Dinner and drinks tonight will give us the chance to experience Kandy’s nightlife offerings.

ELLA

Our southern journey continues today, surrounded by lush and green tea plantations stretching in every direction. We’ll be stopping to get a closer look and learn the art of tea picking (and brewing) from local pickers. We’ll then hop on board a train for one of the ‘world’s most scenic train journeys’ (no biggie) bound for beautiful and serene Ella.

ELLA

You’ll have time to yourself this morning to chill and explore the pretty town of Ella. Maybe treat yourself to a traditional massage, or curl up with a book and cuppa. This afternoon, we’ll then be lacing up our trainers for a hike to Little Adam’s Peak, where the views are seriously something else.

UDAWALAWE

Get those cameras at the ready as this morning we’ll be making a stop at Nine Arches Bridge, one of the most Insta famous places in all of Sri Lanka. We’ll then continue south to Udawalawe National Park, where we’ll check in to our laid back and beautiful hotel perched right on the edge of the park.

UDAWALAWE NATIONAL PARK

Travelling by jeep at sunrise we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for the free roaming wild elephants, plus other species like crocodiles, buffalo and bird life. This afternoon we’ll head to the beachside oasis of Dikwella, where we’ll finish the day watching the sunset whilst tucking into a BBQ.

TALALLA

Take a deep breath and feel the peace and calm wash over you we arrive at our beachfront eco retreat in gorgeous Tallala. The aim of today is to do as little or as much as you want. Yoga is an option, or you could just snooze under a palm tree whilst soaking in one of the best kept secret beaches of the south.

DIKWELLA

From one sun drenched beach to the next, we’ll be stopping off at Welligama Beach this morning for a private surf lesson. We’ll then check in to our beach front hotel in Mirissa, our home for the next two nights.

MIRISSA

Saving one of the best experiences till last, today we’ll be heading to a Buddhist Monastery to take part in a cultural exchange with the local monk students who live there. We’ll learn about their way of life, and in return we’ll help them with their English language practice. Tonight and in celebration of our last evening together, we’ll be treating you to a farewell dinner on the beach.

MIRISSA

Your unforgettable 12 day adventure comes to an end today. Those flying home will make their way to the airport, or keep living the dream and extend your stay in Sri Lanka with our help and the new friends you’ve made.

Great tour, you get to see a lot of different parts of Sri Lanka, and very nice accommodation. We loved it!

Anais - 12th Feb 2020

The intro Travel Sri Lanka experience was one of the best tours I have done. The company and our guide Lyndsay made everything so easy and we did not have to worry about anything. The activities and accommodation was amazing, with the perfect amount of activity and down time. Would 100% recommend.

Claire - 29th Jan 2020

Excellent tour in an amazing location. Such a great mix of Sri Lankan culture and relaxation by the beach and pool. Food was really good with lots of variety. The entire tour and all activities were all organised extremely well and always ran smoothly. Our group leader Stuart was amazing and helped to cater for my peanut allergy throughout the entire trip. He was so well organised, made everyone feel a part of the group the entire tour and his connections with the locals added even more to the experience. Would definitely recommend!

Angela - 20th Jan 2020

Amazing tour! This is jam packed with everything you want to tick off when visiting Sri Lanka. The accommodation was amazing! Most of the all our tour leader Stuart made the trip, his knowledge of the area was second to none. He went out of his way to ensure everyone was enjoying their time. Thank you for amazing trip!

Sophie - 17th Jan 2020

I absolutely loved the trip! There was an excellent mixture of culture, beaches, mountains and activities like home made food and visiting a monk training temple which you’d never be able to do on your own. Our guide Stuart was brilliant, he took care of everything so effortlessly, acted as our photographer, food connoisseur and party planner! There was plenty of time each day to relax. Every single accommodation was amazing - either a rooftop pool, a view of the mountains or a beach side eco resort. I highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to explore Sri Lanka and uncover all the local gems!

Anonymous - 13th Jan 2020

This was my first proper travelling experience, and I was unsure about how much I would enjoy it. I couldn’t have had a better overall experience with a mixture of culture, food, & fun. The tour company themselves & the tour leader couldn’t have been more helpful in answering any questions. Would highly recommend!

Amelia - 9th Jan 2020

This was one of my favorite holidays!! Everything was organised perfectly, meaning you don't have to think about anything and you can properly relax and enjoy this beautiful country. Our tour guide Stuart was so well organised, everything was seamless. He was very attentive to all in the group and went out of his way to ensure we all had a great trip. Thank you Stuart and Intro!

Jenni - 8th Jan 2020

Fantastic tour that covered all the must do spots in Sri Lanka. Had a great mix of culture, trekking, safari and down time at the beaches in the south. The transportation and accommodation was brilliant - Ella was a particular highlight. My tour guide Lyndsay also made it an unforgettable experience!! Would highly recommend the trip.

William - 30th Nov 2019

One of the best tours I have been with Intro travel, the experience has been amazing! I can’t complain about anything on the trip, the itinerary was so diverse and full of activities which I love. Stuart also was fantastic, always happy to help and made sure everyone was ok. Had everyone laughing and happy all the time! Couldn’t of asked for a better tour guide :) Definitely will be going on many more tours with Intro.

Chloe - 27th Nov 2019

The tour was absolutely amazing. It’s really good organised, all of the accommodations are really good and the food is really delicious! The transportation with the bus was totally easy and always right on time. All in all, the Sri Lanka experience tour with Intro Travel is a good way to get to know the country and nice places. Our guide Lyndsay was really wonderful and showed us all really nice places! I highly recommend to go on this tour!

Jose - 26th Nov 2019

I loved the intro Travel sir Lanka experience tour, I got to experience so much local culture as well as all the tourist spots. My tour guide Lyndsay was incredible, she consistently went above and beyond to make the tour fun! I now have very high expectations for my next intro Travel tour as Lyndsay has set the bar high!! Hands down the best tour I have ever done

Anna - 26th Nov 2019

The Sri Lanka experience tour gave a very good impression about people, country and life. I really liked the balance between tours, visiting things and relaxing time. The accommodations were very good and also the variety was impressive and made this trip even more unique. Our guide Stuart was great! He has always taken care about every member of the group and ensures that we don’t have to organize anything by ourselves just relax and enjoy every part of the trip. I felt really comfortable and I would recommend the Sri Lanka experience tour with Stuart.

Helene - 23rd Nov 2019

Intro Sri Lanka was amazing. This was my second Intro trip and my favorite thus far. All the sights, cultural experiences and accommodations were exceptional. Stuart was also fantastic! I highly recommend this trip to all.

Austin - 15th Nov 2019

Sri Lanka: A great country with lots to see. Highlights included hanging out with elephants, teaching young Buddhist monks English, surfing and beautiful scenery. I was apprehensive about coming to the country after some of the troubles however were reassured that there were no issues. There was a heightened police presence in the cities and hotels were taking security seriously. The country certainly appears quieter as a result but will gradually pick up I suspect over the next 12 months Intro Travel: this is my 4th trip with them. I really enjoy using Intro as everything is taken car of and all I have to do is turn up. The huge benefit of using Intro is the people you’ll meet on the trip - I can’t stress the importance of this and I think this has to be the biggest selling point. People tend to be between 20 - 35 from my experience Cost: The trip for me was £1,000 which was the most I have ever spent on a trip. I think this is a lot of money for a country like Sri Lanka, but would still say this was good value for money. I spent £300 spending money whilst here however spent a lot of time drunk so could be done with half that. Transport: You get taken around in a big [comment removed in moderation] coach - so much space to lounge around. Never had anything better or even on par. Driver is also a top guy! Tour Leader: Unfortuneatly she is Scottish but does redeem herself be being one sick human being. Had a good crack with her and loved every minute Top Tip: bring bug spray - it’s essential!

Sunil - 13th Nov 2019

I had the best time in Sri Lanka. Couldn’t have asked for better activities and group leaders (Dave and Ethan). The trip was educational, spiritual and fun. Even in the stormy weather, we were still able to see some beautiful views and have a fab time. The Buddhist Monk visit was an unforgettable moment, highlight of the trip. Everything else was also amazing too. Would 100% do the trip again. THANK YOU!

Charlotte - 1st Nov 2019

A brilliant tour which offers so much. Couldn’t fault it, I loved it from beginning to end. A highlight is definitely the last day when you visit the monks, an experience I will never forget. From the activities, accommodation to all the small details its all been thought about. I couldn’t recommend Sri Lanka Experience more and intro travel in general.

Emily - 1st Nov 2019

The tour was amazing, everything was very well organised, accommodation was excellent and we had the two best tour guides! All the activities were good and involved a lot of local information and food, would recommend to anyone.

Carly - 1st Nov 2019

Stuart was so organised it was amazing, this is my fourth trip with intro travel and he is the most patient and caring group leader I’ve met, despite all of our stupid questions and multiple requests to repeat the time we were meeting for dinner! although his jokes leave a lot to be desired, his riddles were fantastic, much better than his dance moves :) thank you Stuart for such a wonderful trip to Sri Lanka and such wonderful food recommendations , I hope to meet you again one day! Have safe travels for the rest of your time working in Sri Lanka, thank you again!

Nicola - 15th Oct 2019

Amazing tour, amazing itinerary, amazing transportation and absolutely amazing guide, Lyndsay. The tour covers most of the attractions that are a must visit for Sri Lanka. Intro also distinguishes itself from other tour companies through its unique local experiences such as a monestry visit and local village cooking demonstration (plus you get to eat the food!) If you need to organise trips before or after, the staff are more than happy to help you out (Prasad is a local who knows everyone and he can organise accommodation and transport!) Thank you for an amazing experience.

Sarah - 2nd Oct 2019

The activities were varied, well structured and timed (although three hours on safari didn't feel enough and I would happily have done all day) and our tour leader, Stuart, was excellent. He did a superb job of bringing a group of very different people together into one big family. This was important as sharing the tour with people who you have formed a bond with made it an infinitely more enjoyable affair. No cliques formed and there was not one person who was an outsider. While this happened organically, it was through Stuart's gentle ice-breaking, avoidance of forced fun and integration of several people into each conversation that facilitated it. The coach was clean and modern and the accommodation was fantastic, especially the Flower Garden in Ella, which was beautiful and the views were stunning. The glamping site was lovely too, I enjoyed the yoga retreat and playing cricket on the beach with the owner's children at the Dikwella hotel was wonderful. Some of the cultural aspects, like meeting the young trainee monks and participating in the traditional food prep methods in a mud-built kitchen were once in a lifetime opportunities...

Joshua - 3rd Sep 2019

Amazing trip with a great range of things to do! Stuart was a wonderful guide; always there to help, knowledgeable and had some great fun facts!

Jade - 2nd Sep 2019

The tour included a great mix of activities: cultural, nature, hiking, chilling - something for everyone. Stuart is a wonderful group leader: patient, interesting, tells dad jokes and took care of everyone.

SL - 2nd Sep 2019

At the beginning I felt it was all go. One minute ‘we were here and next minute we had to go there’ so sometimes it felt a little restricted which is natural with these tours but towards the end I loved going to do stuff and then getting a good bit of free time to chill and do whatever. Top activities Enjoyed the rock climb Spice Gardens were very interesting Really liked the Safari Surfing was unreal Really enjoyed Mirissa in general. Also Lyndsey is a legend, give her a raise

Karl - 31st Aug 2019

I have just finished the Sri Lanka 12 day tour with Intro Travel and now heading for the airport. I have had the most amazing tour. From day 1 when being picked up from the airport and arriving at our hotel in Negombo, I have felt relaxed. I travelled to Bali with Intro last year, which was amazing. So it was an easy decision to choose Intro again to show me beautiful Sri Lanka. The intinery has so many different experiences from the Tuk Tuk tour, visiting the beautiful budism temples, climbing Pidurangala to the top with monkeys and seeing unforgettable views of Sigiriya rock. I think one of the most surreal moments was when we got taxied further into the jungle to meet two lovely Sri Lankan women who cooked us fresh food and showed us how they build their home from parts of the coconut tree. They also allowed me to climb their tree house where they sleep at night to spot for wild elephants that may come too close and damage their crops. Then we saw one when we were leaving. Amazing! The tour also includes visiting Blue field tea plantation and learning how they cut and process different types of tea. The pictures from this day sent my social media into a frenzy. I think another unforgettable moment was taking the famous blue train from Kandy to Ella...

Laura - 31st Aug 2019

An absolutely brilliant tour, so well planned and organised!! The itinerary was very good and included everything you could ever want to experience in Sri Lanka. Roisin was an outstanding tour leader, always very happy to help with her bubbly personality and making sure everybody was well looked after and having fun! Definitely recommend Sri Lanka, next stop Intro Bali!

Ellie - 28th Aug 2019

Last year I experienced Intro Travel in Bali and had the best time so paid a deposit for the Sri Lanka experience. Intro Travel stood out compared to many other tour companies that I have used. This year I travelled with 4 of my friends and knew they would love the tour as much as I would. Roisin picked us up from the airport and welcomed us with a big smile and friendly approach. She helped us to settle in to our accommodation and checked that we were ok the following day before the tour started. The tour was fantastic and all activities were well planned and thought out. There was enough chill time and we all found time to relax. Ella train journey day was the best day ever and we were all buzzing from the day. We ziplined down from Little Adam’s Peak which was fab and enjoyed many swimming pools. The accommodations were impressive (especially in Ella and Rangiri) and the staff were always so helpful. Roisin always made sure that we were checked in ok and is a very confident leader. We were lucky to have her, she is a superstar :) I would recommend this tour to anyone. Intro Travel need to keep doing what they are doing, hurry up Philippines tour!!!!

Gemma - 27th Aug 2019

Great overall experience of the trip. Felt like I saw the real Sri Lanka, not just a tourist’s holiday. Dave was an excellent guide making sure everyone was having a good time individually. Would 100% recommend to anyone thinking about seeing Sri Lanka.

Sam - 19th Aug 2019

The tour was incredible. It provided such a wide variety of activities and accommodation. It showcased the range of beauty that Sri Lanka has to offer. It would be hard to beat that Sri Lankan smile. Everyone has been so helpful and friendly along the way from the bus driver, monks, hotel staff, guides... I have loved all the different places we have stayed. They have all offered something different, the views and quirkiness of Ella flower garden, the secluded beach at Dikwella Beach hotel and the luxuries of glamping and the eco retreat. I feel the tour has offered a balanced, range of high quality experiences to absorb the culture, food, wildlife, adventures and awesomeness of the country. Lyndsay has been an amazing tour leader throughout... offering support, information and helping to bring the group together. Her energy, passion and consideration of individual and group needs truly stand out. I would highly recommend this trip. Thank you for an inspiring holiday.

Mikayla - 12th Aug 2019

A lovely trip with Lyndsay, who managed an older group with the respect and freedom that we wanted, whilst also providing clear instructions and guidance when we wanted to do our own thing.

Josh - 12th Aug 2019

Had a fantastic time! I don’t want to leave! The trip is full of fun things to do and I have learned a lot about the local culture which is amazing. I have already signed up to another trip and have put my name down to work for the company! Can’t wait to see what countries Intro add next :)

Stacey - 10th Aug 2019

Sri Lanka has been my first intro tour and I couldn’t praise it enough! The itinerary is fantastic and Roisin has been a brilliant tour guide. I enjoyed everything!

Hayley - 10th Aug 2019

I could not have picked a more well organised and fun tour! It was my first group tour and I had soooo much fun. I would do it again if I had the time. Highly reccommended!

Theresa - 10th Aug 2019

AMAZING! I had the best time, everything was well explained and I knew what was happening each day. The sights were incredible and I learnt a lot about the culture of Sri Lanka. I feel like I have seen everything that I wanted to see and more. I would highly recommend this tour. Incredible.

Emily - 10th Aug 2019

Didn’t know what to expect but this tour surpassed anything I could have hoped for. The perfect balance of sightseeing and activities. We did amazing things which wouldn’t have been possible under our own steam. Really enjoyed it and not looking forward to resuming real life.

Julia - 10th Aug 2019

Sri Lanka experience was my third trip with Intro Travel, and they created a wonderful tour once again. We saw the best of the country in just 12 days with extremely well organized transportation and activities. Dave was an awesome tour guide and always made sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying themselves. Definitely recommend this trip to everyone!

Krista - 6th Aug 2019

I had an amazing time with intro travel on this Sri Lanka tour. It’s well organised and the tour guides had really good knowledge and were able to share their beautiful country with us. Our group leader was Roisin, who is an absolute star. Always there for you what ever you need. Always quick to act if something is going 100% right, willing to do anything to get us out food correctly or even a perfect insta shot. She is wonderful!! Overall this tour is definitely worth booking on to, intro travel NEVER disappoints.

Hollie - 25th Apr 2019

This tour was my third intro tour & again was another amazing experience! The itinerary had everything I wanted to do whilst away & covered a lot of Sri Lanka & The accommodation was a lot better than I expected. One of the reasons I enjoyed the tour so much was because of our tour leader was Roisin, she was the best tour leader by far our of the three I’ve had. She was very approachable & her enthusiasm & energy was infectious & ongoing throughout the whole trip! Thanks Roisin for making this trip the best one yet

Hayley - 17th Apr 2019

I’ve been on 3 of the intro tours now and I can honestly say this one was the best! It’s a fantastic way to see all of the best bits of Sri Lanka without having to do the leg work yourself. The tour is a really good balance between culture, adventure, fun and free time. Some of my personal highlights were visiting the monks (absolutely AMAZING), learning about buddism whilst exploring temples, hiking to the view points and the surf lesson. The accommodation is incredible, each place is quite unique which is nice as it really immerses you into the location you are in (the views from the ones in Kandy, Ella and Dikwella are INSANE!) The best bit by far about this tour was our Group leader, Roisin. She is the best group leader I’ve ever had on a tour by far. She brought so much energy when we needed it, was really insightful about Sri Lankan life and culture and was generally so much fun to be around. She was absolutely focused on making sure we all had the best experience possible over the 12 days, whether that was making sure we had beers on an alcohol free national holiday, getting the perfect instagram shot or setting up hilarious games in the evenings. What was so lovely was she brought us together as a group but also spent time getting to know us individually so she could make sure everything was perfect for the trip. If you are even contemplating visiting Sri Lanka and are worried about planning it yourself then book on this tour - you won’t regret it!

Sam - 16th Apr 2019

Third tour with Intro Travel and it is definitely the best (which is no mean feat against such incredible competition!) The tour is the perfect balance between exploration and relaxation. During week one, you explore Buddhist temples, tea plantations and hike to reach incredible views. Week two is all about stunning beaches, infinity pools and elephant spotting. Absolute dream. The accommodation is some of the best Intro Travel and Sri Lanka has to offer; the hotel in Unuwatuna was my personal favourite, offering the most incredible service (and that breakfast!!) The food throughout the entire trip was out of this world and is what tipped the scales against Vietnam and Bali for me. Last but not least was our leader, Roisin. The best leader I have had - full of energy, sass and ready to take charge of any situation with the locals. She and the rest of the 5th April group have made the past two weeks unforgettable - anybody reading this should book book book!!!

Paul - 16th Apr 2019
