Beach cleanups are a regular occurrence on INTRO trips. Just like you, we want to protect our oceans, waterways and marine life, so you’ll often find us and our awesome travellers collecting rubbish as we go. As well as our impromptu cleans, we’ve also partnered with organisations like Trash Hero in Thailand and Gili Eco Trust in Indonesia to further promote the message.

At our property Sarana Bungalows in Koh Phangan, Thailand, our travellers have the chance to donate old clothes, toiletries and spare change to Charlie’s Children’s Charity. This incredible team work with disadvantaged and mentally handicapped children, providing them with clothes, food, toiletries and much needed medical supplies.

Based in Midigama, our Sri Lanka Experience trip visits a small ‘Pirivena’ or Buddhist Monk School, with all funds from the experience going towards the maintenance and development of the school. In addition, our travellers also help the young monks with their English language practice, and in turn have the chance to learn about life as a student monk.

From the moment we started visiting Lovina, a beautiful and rural area in Northern Bali, we knew we wanted to support the local community in some way. Then, as if by magic, we met Gede, who lives with his family on a small farm and coffee plantation. Fast forward to today, where all our groups visiting Lovina have the chance to visit Gede, learn about the traditional art of basket weaving, and ask questions about local life.

On August 5th 2018, a massive earthquake devastated North Lombok and much of the Gili Islands in Bali. Together with other tour operators, we collectively raised over $50,000 to help support the local community. Additionally, we personally delivered shipments of supplies to the areas that were hardest hit, including to Hifan, our Gili Boat Operator who together with his family, was hugely impacted by the disaster.

Travellers on our Thai Experience trip have the chance to support the development of the Rungfah Farm Stay in Khao Sok National Park. The brain child of our enigmatic friend Mr You, the back-to-basics sustainable farm promotes eco friendly living, including using self produced and eco friendly fertiliser. Mr You built his homestay by hand and uses solar power to generate energy, with all funds paid to him being used to help support his young family, as well as the upkeep of the farm.

Our local guides / legends are the backbone of our operations and a very special part of the INTRO family. Several times a year we offer the opportunity for one or more of our local guides to travel to another one of our destinations or choose an experience they may not normally get to do, courtesy of and with love from us.

Mr Op and his family from the Mekong Delta in Vietnam started with humble beginnings and only a couple of bungalows on a small island on the Delta. After 2 years of support from our groups visiting and experiencing how the locals really live there, he’s been able to create enough bungalows for our groups to stay with him and his family on this tiny island on the Delta.
