Itinerary

BRISBANE

Kicking off in sunny Brisbane, we’ll organize your airport transfer or meet you at the hostel. Meet your new travel crew and get excited for the adventures to come. Explore the highlights of Queensland’s capital, and chill out at the only city man-made beach in Australia called ‘The Lagoon’.

NOOSA & K'GARI (FRASER ISLAND)

Discover the Aussie holiday favourite Noosa, famous for its laidback lifestyle and stunning beaches. We’ll kick back beach-side before heading to one of the absolute highlights on the East Coast of Australia - K'gari (Fraser Island)! You’ll get to drive 4x4’s around the biggest sand island in the world. The beach and sand dunes are your highway for the next 3 days. Swim in the incredible turquoise waters of Lake McKenzie, float down the lazy river of Eli Creek, get a 360 degree view of K'gari from Indian Heads Lookout, chill in the bubbles of the Champagne Pools, learn about the Aboriginal history on the island, spot dingoes in the wild, and then sleep beneath the stars in a purpose built campsite with your group. Arriving back in Noosa, we’ll explore the idyllic coastline on our way to the Instagram-worthy Fairy Pools.

AIRLIE BEACH & WHITSUNDAYS

Enjoy some free time at the beachfront lagoon in Airlie Beach before discovering another absolute must do on the East Coast - the stunning Whitsundays. Made up of 74 tropical islands, we’ll board our boat for the next 2 nights. Relax and sunbathe on the deck as we sail to the outer parts of the Great Barrier Reef. Snorkel with an abundance of marine life on the fringing reefs and later explore the amazing swirls of fine white sand on the world-famous Whitehaven Beach.

MAGNETIC ISLAND

Today we’ll jump on the ferry to a slice of tropical paradise - Magnetic Island. Over the next 2 days you’ll stay in beach front huts while you explore the best of this magical Island. Chill out in your ocean front hammock, hire a car and explore the hidden beaches and hike up the historic Forts Walk. If you’re lucky you’ll even spot wild koalas and rock wallabies.

MISSION BEACH

Time to relax in the chilled out beachfront town of Mission Beach, with your choice of any adrenaline pumping experience this tiny town is known for. If you‘ve ever thought of skydiving this is the place! Jump at 15,000ft and soak up views of both the Great Barrier Reef and rainforests before landing on the beach, or white water raft the Tully River rapids through a spectacular gorge surrounded by World Heritage Rainforest.

CAIRNS

Cairns is the ultimate backpacker adventure hub. Here you’ll tick off a massive bucket list item and experience a full day on the Great Barrier Reef. You’ll get to snorkel and sail the Great Barrier Reef and visit 2 unique outer reef locations. While in Cairns we’ll also explore the real Aussie oasis of the Atherton Tablelands. You’ll swim under epic waterfalls, slide down natural rock slides and swim in dormant volcano craters all while your experienced guide teaches you about this extraordinary place. Tonight we wrap things up with a farewell dinner and drinks to toast the incredible adventures we’ve had together.

CAIRNS

Your epic Aussie adventure comes to an end this morning. If you need help with onward travel in Oz we are here to help for the rest of your time in Australia.

Frequently Asked Questions

It’s always a good time to go backpacking in Australia! It’s generally quite hot in most parts of the country for the majority of the year except for the southern half of Australia during winter (June, July & August). But because Australia is such a big country when it’s cold down south most people will head north and follow the sun!

This is a backpacker style trip, aimed at those happy to stay at nice, well located, budget hostels in multi-share rooms.

The transport on this trip is mostly a public coach, with one overnight journey to Airlie Beach.

When should I arrive for my tour?

It’s best to arrive on the actual start date. This is when most people arrive. There are no activities on the first day but the group gets together in the evening for a welcome dinner at around 7pm. Once you have booked your flights please log into the Manage My Booking area of our website and let us know your flight arrival details. If you are arriving early we can still arrange your airport transfer for you (excluding Japan). You can book and pay for any extra nights accommodation in the Manage My Booking area of our website. The cost and availability of extra nights will vary depending on which tour you have booked.

You can find information on which airport to fly into and out of in the 'Arrival Info’ and ‘After Your Trip’ sections of our INTRO Travel App, which you can download here for iPhone or Google

If you haven’t got a backpack yet, try and get one that zips open along the side. There will be places on the tour where you can do laundry, so you don’t need to bring 16 pairs of shorts with you.

If you're struggling to convince your friends to join you on an adventure, you're not alone!

Travelling solo on a group tour can be one of the most exciting ways to experience a new destination, and you won't have to wait around for your mates to be ready. You leave yourself open to meeting amazing people, making new friends, and can keep yourself and your onward travel plans flexible.

The majority of our group members are solo travellers, so joining one of our group tours is a great way to meet people and make friends. Before your trip starts we'll put you in touch with the rest of your group so you can start chatting and get to know each other. And after the trip a lot of people continue travelling with the new friends they've made!

What if I'm travelling with a friend/s or partner?

Once you’ve made a booking just let us know who you’re travelling with and we can make a note that you are travelling together, and can put you in the same room.

A big part of the INTRO Travel difference is our after-trip support. Your group leader will spend enough time as needed to ensure you are totally comfortable and confident with where you’re going next. And can help organise and book whatever you need, including any transport, accommodation or trips you may want.
