MANILA
Kamusta and welcome to Manila! On arrival in the bustling capital we’ll meet you at the airport to take you to the hotel. You’ll have plenty of time to recover from the flight before meeting up with your new travel crew and getting excited for the adventures to come.
SIQUIJOR
This morning’s an early start as we travel to the beautiful island of Siquijor via a short flight and ferry. After checking in we’ll head down to one of the island’s renowned white sand beaches to watch the sun sink below the horizon. Welcome to paradise!
SIQUIJOR
Today we will be exploring everything Siquijor has to offer. First we’ll head up into the mystical mountains to visit local Shamans, believed to posses healing powers, before checking out Cambugahay Falls, an instagrammable waterfall complete with rope swings and bamboo rafts. Later on we’ll get a taste of what the Philippines’ immaculate oceans hold in store for us as we have our first snorkelling stop of the trip.
MOALBOAL
We’ll be leaving Siquijor to head over to Moalboal, stopping for an adrenaline-pumping canyoneering experience at Kawasan Waterfalls. This activity will have the brave of us not just looking, but LEAPING into the unbelievably blue pools of the falls below.
MOALBOAL
This morning we’ll venture out on a snorkelling trip to witness Moalboal’s famous Sardine Run. A natural phenomenon worthy of a David Attenborough documentary, you’ll get the chance to snorkel amongst literal millions of sardines in crystal waters, truly an experience like no other. We’ll also keep fingers crossed for sea turtles! Afterwards the afternoon is yours to explore more of Moalboal, or simply relax by the beach or pool.
CORON
On the way to our second flight of the trip from Cebu City we’ll stop at Simala Church. This castle-like monastery is the perfect place for us to gain insight into the Spanish colonisation of the Philippines and learn how Catholicism became the dominant religion. After our flight to Busuanga Island we’ll check in to our hotel and get ready to experience the vibrant nightlife Coron town has to offer.
CORON
Relax by the pool or wander Coron Town, the morning is in your hands! This afternoon lace up your sneakers and pack your camera as we venture on a short hike up Mount Tapyas to be rewarded with incredible views of the bay. We’ll then head to Maquinit Hot Springs for a spot of relaxation, taking in a glorious sunset as we soak in the naturally warm saltwater pools.
CORON
Today we set off on an unforgettable 3-day expedition from Coron to El Nido. This trip will take us far from the usual tourist hotspots, sailing away on a traditional Banca boat to discover deserted islands, leave footprints on soft white beaches, snorkel turquoise waters, interact with local tribes and stargaze on the beach. This trip will wake up your inner adventurer - with only a mattress, mosquito net, and bucket shower our traditional Filipino huts are simple - but given the lack of crowds, abundant fresh food, and postcard shots everywhere you turn, the trade-off is absolutely worth it!
CORON
Continuing our sail to El Nido we’ll swing by more uninhabited beaches and swim amongst fish in some of the world’s clearest waters. Without wifi, we are completely off-the-grid, able to fully immerse ourselves in the otherworldly beauty of our surroundings, and focus on our routine - swim, snorkel, sunbathe, repeat! Tonight we stay in a traditional beach camp to fall asleep to the sound of the ocean.
EL NIDO
Our boat expedition comes to an end today when we arrive in El Nido on the island of Palawan, our final destination in this stunning country. Back in civilisation we’ll check in to our hotel and be grateful for a hot shower before heading off to see the town from above on a canopy walk through the jungle.
EL NIDO
After a few jam-packed days of sailing and swimming, today we’ll have plenty of free time to chill out on the beach, sip cold drinks, work on our tans and explore El Nido. We’ll also treat ourselves with an included Filipino massage, the ultimate way to ease our muscles after so much adventure.
EL NIDO
Our last day of exploring will see us jump in a Jeepney and head to Nacpan Beach, one of the most picturesque spots on Palawan, as well as checking out a few local hideouts to get a taste of Filipino island life. Tonight we have our farewell dinner before heading out for some final drinks together.
EL NIDO
Time to bid farewell as our 13 day adventure comes to an end. You can either check out and make your way back home, stay on longer in El Nido or continue your travels in the Philippines. If you need any assistance planning onward travel, we’re more than happy to help!
Making a positive difference to the amazing destinations we travel is at the core of what we do. Small Change is our own socially conscious initiative aimed at making the world that little bit better place to explore!
Check out the #SmallChange you'll be part of while doing this tour. Click hereYes. Lots of people on our trips are travelling solo. But by doing our trip you’ll instantly be part of a group, so it’s a great way to meet others and make friends! Most of our accommodation is twin/double share, so we will put you in a room with someone of the same gender.
You can start chatting to people in your group and other travellers before you leave. Just go to our Facebook page, click on ‘Groups’ and choose Philippines.
Travel insurance is compulsory for all our trips. Click here to organise a quote and policy for yourself.
Just let us know who you’re travelling with after you’ve booked and your relationship to them, and we’ll organise appropriate room shares for you. Our booking system takes one booking at a time, so if you’re booking for multiple people just complete a separate booking for each person. It’s super quick and easy!
No worries. Unless you tell us otherwise we’ll automatically book you into our accommodation from the day you arrive, and then you can just pay for your extra nights on arrival. If you’re staying at our accommodation we will provide a personal airport pick up even if you arrive early.
The great thing about the Philippines is it’s usually quite hot and dry whilst we are operating, so it’s great to go at any time between October to June. Please keep in mind that we don’t operate our tours during the main wet season (July, August, September). And in Asia, if it does rain it’s normally just for an hour or two and then it will stop.
All your activities, accommodation, transport and some meals are included, so you’ll just need money for any extra meals, drinks, shopping and any onward travel. We recommend you bring at least £300 / $500 spending money.
Most accommodations we stay at have free Wi-Fi available. The Philippines network quality is often lower than you’re used to but you can generally connect and do basic stuff. On our 3-day boat expedition there will be no Wi-Fi available.
We always recommend travelling with a backpack and packing light! 10-20kgs of stuff should be plenty. It’s generally quite hot in the Philippines so dragging around a huge suitcase is not much fun. There is luggage storage at the airport or at some accommodations if needed. You’ll also need a small overnight bag (we would recommend a drybag/waterproof bag) for the 3-day boat expedition.
Due to the nature of our Philippines Island Explorer tour, it is a COVID requirement that you must be fully vaccinated 14 days prior to travel, or have completed a supervised rapid antigen test no more than 24 hours prior to travel. It is your responsibility to adhere to these requirements to ensure your arrival is not impacted and you can join your tour without issue.
