Quarantine-Free Travel To Resume For Fully Vaccinated UK Travellers!
In official news from the UK Government, fully vaccinated UK residents arriving in England from 'amber' travel list countries will no longer have to quarantine from 19th July 2021!
As restrictions in the UK are set to ease this month, so will rules for travellers returning to England from overseas. Although the 'traffic light' system will stay in place, if you're fully vaccinated (aka have had two doses from an NHS vaccine for at least 14 days) you will no longer need to self isolate on return from amber-listed countries. This changes the current requirement to isolate for 10 days, regardless of vaccination status.
In addition to this, the UK government will lift the formal advice against travel to amber list countries.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said, "In essence, this means that for fully vaccinated travellers the requirements for green and amber list countries are the same."
Good news is that this includes our group tour destinations of Cambodia, Japan, Mexico, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia! These moves from the government are hugely positive signs of a safe, sustainable and robust return to international travel, and we couldn't be more excited.
If you're fully jabbed you will still need to pay for Covid tests pre-departure and on Day 2 after returning, but no longer need to do a test on Day 8.
For travellers who are not fully vaccinated the rules will remain the same for amber countries: a pre-departure test, quarantine for 10 days on returning to the UK, and tests on Day 2 and Day 8.
However, other countries have their own rules which travellers need to take into account. INTRO destinations on the green and amber lists still have strict entry requirements, but these will likely change over the coming months as vaccination amps up and the travel industry kicks back into gear. Thailand recently announced plans to fully open the country to tourism in October 2021 - a giant leap towards resuming our group tours! You can find out more about Thailand's opening announcement here, and stay up to date with country entry requirements via our Travel Update blogs here.
How can I prove I am fully vaccinated?
People in England can prove they are fully vaccinated by requesting an NHS Covid Pass via the NHS website or the NHS app. Once logged in you can request an NHS Covid Pass. The system generates a QR code that lasts for 28 days. You can download a PDF copy or have it emailed to you. People who have had both their shots can also request an NHS Covid Pass letter by calling 119.
Where can I get a Covid test in the UK that will allow me to travel?
The UK government website lists nearly 400 providers carrying out the Covid tests fully vaccinated travellers need to take for travel. Prices begin at £2.49, with the majority in the £50 - £100 price range.
